SPY SHOTS: New Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake Caught Thinly Disguised


When Mercedes-Benz presented the first generation of the CLS in 2004, nobody expected that it would virtually reestablished the so-called four-door coupe segment and go on to sell some 170,000 examples throughout the world.

Now, the Stuttgart-based automaker is getting ready to bring the shooting brake category into the limelight with a new variant of the second generation of the CLS.

The company not only acknowledged the production of the Shooting Brake model a few months after the presentation of a concept study at the Auto China motorshow in 2010, but even announced that sales will start in 2012.

New Toyota FT-86 Revealed Through Leaked Japanese Brochure?


It's almost time for the official unveiling of the production version of the Toyota FT-86 rear-wheel drive coupe, which means you should probably brace yourself for a barrage of photos and details over the next few weeks.

The first wave comes through a set of leaked brochure scans that seem to be legit. The FT-86 depicted in these pictures is the Japanese domestic market Modellista version that has been accessorized by Toyota's in-house customization company.

Among other bespoke features that you won't see on the base model is the exterior aero package that comprises of a front spoiler, beefier side skirts and a two-piece rear apron, along with the model-specific alloy wheels.

First Spy Shots of 2013 BMW 3-Series Coupe or New 4-Series


Now that didn't take long, did it? No sooner than BMW revealed the sixth-generation of its 3-Series saloon and the first camouflaged prototypes of the coupe model have hit the streets of Germany to begin their final stages of testing.

For those of you confused with our title, unconfirmed reports citing insider sources claim that BMW is contemplating the use of odd numbers for its family models such as sedans and station wagons and even numbers for its sportier vehicles like the X6 and the two door version of the 3-Series, which may be named 4-Series.

BMW had toyed around with the idea in the past but it never came to fruition. We still don't know for sure if the next 3-Series Coupe will be renamed or not.

JDM 2012 Subaru Impreza G4 Sedan and Sport Hatchback Detailed in Brochure Shots


The first pictures and details of the Japanese domestic market [JDM] 2012 Subaru Impreza have emerged online thanks to a set of brochure shots that were leaked before the official presentation on November 30.

As most of you probably expected, the JDM model is a carbon copy of the North American version of the new Impreza, which goes on sale in the States next month. In Japan, the hatchback model will carry the Sport designation while the sedan will be called G4.

2013 Cadillac ATS Sedan Development at the Nürburgring Track [Video]


It’s been roughly two weeks since Cadillac dropped the first teaser video of the 2013 ATS at the Nürburgring and now GM has the released the first full installment of its web series dedicated to the development of the premium compact sedan at the so-called "Green Hell".

The Detroit-based company's goal of course is to associate the ATS with its German competition, and specifically the new BMW 3-Series.

SPIED: Odd Looking Range Rover Sport Prototype May be Testing Hybrid Powertrain


Automakers tend to use test mules that typically combine body parts of an existing model with chassis and/or mechanical components of a next generation vehicle in the early stages of development for testing purposes.

This seems to be the case with the Range Rover Sport prototype caught by our scoop photographers out on the road in Europe.

SPIED: New Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series Edition Shows Off its Widened Body for the Camera


For all those Mercedes-Benz customers that find the regular AMG variants too tame for their tastes, the Stuttgart automaker's sports car division has come up with a special series of cars that carry the Black Series nameplate.

The Black Series AMG models can be identified by their more extreme bodywork and beefed up performance along with a price tag to match their abilities.

Not even Mercedes-Benz's top offering, the SLS AMG gullwing-door supercar, can escape the Black Series treatment. A lightly disguised prototype version of the SLS AMG Black Series edition was captured by our scoop photographers while testing on the Nürburgring track.

SPIED: 2014 BMW M3 F30 Show Up on the Nürburgring Track


Here are some fresh photos of the upcoming, next generation BMW M3 sports sedan wearing some swirly patches of camouflage while testing on the infamous "Green Hell".

Since the last time we posted scoop pictures of the new M3, BMW presented the regular versions of its new 3 sedan, codenamed F30, with the M Sport Package models giving us a taste of what to expect from the golden-boy of the series.

Scooped: Germany's Roding Roadster Takes New Shape


We'll forgive you if you've never heard of the name Roding before. Based in Germany, the company made its first appearance at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show with an odd-looking roadster concept promising to deliver a production version of the two-seat mid-engine sports car in the near future.

Fast forward to today, and our crafty scoop photographers captured a prototype of the Roding Roadster honed at the Nürburgring racetrack. Spy Video: The Sights and Sounds of the 2013 Porsche 911 Turbo Convertible


Want to see the upcoming 2013 Porsche 911 Turbo in some live action? Here's our first video of the convertible model filmed while Stuttgart's engineers were flogging a lightly camouflaged prototype around the Nürburgring test track.

The quad tail pipes seen on the test car suggest that it may be the more potent Turbo S model equipped with an upgraded version of the turbocharged flat-six producing an estimated output of around 550-horses.

New Toyota Prius C: Leaked Brochure Reveals Standalone Small Hybrid Hatch


We got our first taste of the next member to join Toyota's growing family of Prius models with the Prius C concept study that made its debut alongside the Prius V minivan at the Detroit Motor Show earlier this year.

But today, thanks to a tip from a Carscoop reader in Japan who goes by the nickname "i-Ryuji", we can show you the actual production version of the Prius C through a plethora of scanned images from a leaked brochure.

With a big stretch of imagination, you might see the resemblance between the concept study and the production variant of the Prius C that evolves the design language of the regular Prius liftback.

SCOOP: Watch the 2013 Range Rover Being Thrashed Around the 'Ring in New Spy Video


You have probably already seen the spy shots, but this time, our intrepid scoopsters managed to snag the next generation of Land Rover's luxurious Range Rover SUV on film while testing in and out of the Nurburgring race track.

The Range Rover is long overdue for replacement as the current model has its roots back in the period when Land Rover was owned by the BMW Group. Planned and developed by the Bavarian company, the third generation was introduced in 2002 and was subsequently revised under the ownership of Ford and more recently, Tata Motors.

SPIED: Audi Testing Facelifted 2013 A4 Allroad Quattro


It's been four years since Audi presented the fourth generation of its A4 series, which means it's time for the Ingolstadt-based automaker to present a mid-life nip-and-tuck for the premium model that is available in sedan, Avant (estate) and Allroad Quatro body styles.

On this occasion, we’ve snagged photos of a prototype of the facelifted A4 Allroad Quattro during testing in Europe. Even though Audi's engineers have covered up the test model in swirly patterns, we can see that the changes will be concentrated up front and at the back.

Our Spies get Up, Close and Personal with the Toyota FT-86 by Gazoo Racing


We are still a couple of months away from the world premiere of the series production Toyota FT-86 at the Tokyo Motor Show in December, but on Saturday, October 15, the rear-wheel drive coupe will make its racing debut at the VLN endurance racing championship on the Nürburgring track.

The race-prepped FT-86 has been developed by Toyota's motorsports partner Gazoo Racing and it is based on the actual production model that goes on sale next year.

After the first crop of pictures that we showed you on Thursday, our crafty spies were able to get very close to the racecar during testing at the pits and on the track, and even shot some photos if the FT-86's interior.

SPIED: New Audi RS1 Pocket-Rocket Shows up on the 'Ring


Audi's Quattro GmbH sports car division has its work cut out lately. Apart from the RS5 Convertible, the RS4 Avant and rumored RS7, the company's engineers are also developing the RS1 based on the A1 premium supermini.

Captured here by our crafty spy photographers while testing in and around the Nürburgring race circuit, the prototype sports typical RS-styling traits such as the prominent front bumper air vents, a large rear wing and a rear diffuser with space for two bulbous tail pipes.

SCOOP: Toyota FT-86 by Gazoo Racing Snagged Testing, will Debut this Saturday on the 'Ring!


In a move that sounds very similar to what Lexus did with the LF-A some two years ago, Toyota and its motorsports partner Gazoo Racing are preparing a specially modified version of the upcoming FT-86 rear-wheel drive coupe that will make its racing debut before the official presentation of the production model at the Tokyo Motor Show in early December.

Our man with the long lens not only caught the FT-86 by Gazoo Racing, but he also told us that it will break cover this Saturday, October 15, at the VLN endurance racing championship at the Nürburgring.

We checked the entries and can confirm that the FT-86 has been officially listed with Masahiko Kagayama and Minoru Takaki taking the driver's seat.

U SPY: 2014 Volvo V30 Scooped on Film as Well


Carscoop commentator Paul tipped us off about a short video he took of a 2014 Volvo V30 prototype that he discovered at a McDonalds parking lot in the Dutch city of Oldenzaal. And yes, it's the same test car we showed you on Wednesday in our scoop pictures.

As a refresher for those of you that missed our previous story, the V30 is the five-door version of the next generation C30. It is expected to launch within the next two years providing the Swedish firm with direct rival to the Audi A3 Sportback and its kind in the premium hatchback category.

SPIED: New Volvo V30 5-Door Hatchback Spotted Hanging Around a Parking Lot


Our spies caught up with a five-door prototype version of the next generation C30 in one of the least expected places: a McDonald's parking lot in Amsterdam, Holland. It seems that the Volvo engineers were taking a break, leaving our photographers a small window to take a few shots.

The five-door version of the C30 hatchback will likely carry the V30 nameplate and will go against the likes of the Audi A3 Sportback and the new BMW 1-Series.

SPIED: Big Daddy 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Draws Closer


Once almost a lone player in the luxury segment, Mercedes-Benz and its S-Class have been challenged directly over the past years by numerous rivals ranging from the Lexus LS and the Audi A8 to the rejuvenated Jaguar XJ and even the Porsche Panamera.

But the Stuttgart-based automaker is holding on and is now readying a new and improved successor to its S-Class limousine that will also be known under its internal codename, W222.

Scheduled to arrive in the market in the 2013 calendar year, the W222 is based on a new platform architecture and will be offered in both short- and long-wheebase derivatives as well as with the choice of rear- or all-wheel drive.
