In Russia, Saving a Lexus ES300 Means Drowning it… [Video]

A rescue attempt to save a Lexus ES300 that was on the verge of sinking into a lake in Russia had the opposite effect when the tow straps holding the car snapped off leading the Japanese model into the water.

We can’t confirm this, but the person who uploaded the video on Youtube says that the Lexus sedan was parked too close to the water and the driver couldn't get out.

Italian Sushi: Fiat Coupé Conversion with a Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 1,000HP V6 and AWD

Let's just imagine you're faced with this problem: You love the Fiat Coupe's punk rock styling but don't feel the same for its front-wheel drive layout. On the other hand, you're crazy about the Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4's potent and technologically advanced powertrain but can't stand its notoriously bland looks.

We'll assume that any logical person would try to find an answer by looking into another vehicle, but not these guys. Welcome to insane tuning world of Russia's Totalcar that decided to create a vehicle that promises to deliver the best of both worlds.

We're still short on the full details as this is an ongoing project, but here's the skinny: the Russian tuner took the Mitsubishi's 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine and all-wheel drivetrain and somehow managed to fit it all under the beautiful body of the Chris Bangle-designed (yes, the same person who styled the BMW E65 7-Series) 1990's Fiat Coupé.

In Russia, You Make the Wheel Start the Car [Video]

It's often said that "necessity is the mother of invention" and who knows more about necessity than the owner(s) of a Lada Samara hatchback?

These good 'ol crafty Russian chaps found a rather unusual way to start their car that had a dead battery using a rope and some pulling power.

Do we really have to tell you not to try this at home kids?

Video: Too Fast, Too Furious Ain't the Way to Tackle an Off-Road Course…

It is a completely different driving world when you're at an off-road course. Sure it can be fun but you should always keep in mind that what you know and practice on the road cannot be applied on a bona-fide trail ride.

The driver of this 4x4 model learned it the hard way when he stomped on the gas pedal to pass over a man-made hill as the vehicle plunged face down at a 90-degree angle. Nevertheless, the ending could have been far worse than the knock on the kid's head.

Video follows after the jump.

Video: Yep, that Looks Perfectly Comfortable and Absolutely Safe

Did you ever wonder where the idiom "packed like sardines" comes from? Well, let's put it this way; we've seen sardines packed more loosely than the poor people you're about to watch struggling to fit inside the bus in the video below, which was purportedly shot somewhere in mother Russia. And let's not start talking about safety...

Video: Toyota Supra Drifter Outwitted by Cop on Roundabout

A jazzy driver in a fourth-generation Toyota Supra was filmed trying to have some drifting fun on a roundabout at the expense of the police. After the patrol car tried to follow the Supra on the roundabout the cop outsmarted the driver by turning off his emergency lights and placing the car in the middle of the road.

Given that the police car appears to be a VAZ-2110 (otherwise known as the Lada 110), we presume that the scene took place in Russia or a nearby country. Video follows below.

Video: In Russia, Demonstrating Against Illegally Parked Cars May get you Killed…

Organized activism is never easy, even more so if you have to deal with gun-carrying civilians. In the video you're about to watch, a Russian activist group called "Стоп-хам" (Stop-Xam) decided to take action against illegally parked cars on Petrovka street in Moscow (if our translation is correct, that is), by placing large stickers on the vehicles' windshields.

An owner, or perhaps simply a driver of one of those cars - a silver-colored Toyota Camry, objected to the activists' move and sure enough, a brawl erupted. The young driver of the Camry punched one of the activists and when the rest came to his help, he pulled out a gun.

Video: Russian Girls Just Wanna Have Fun...in the Car [NSFW]

Though we like to assume that we're fairly open when it comes to music, we must admit that we've never had the chance to look [pun intended] at the lovely voices of the trio of girls that form the Russian pop group Serebar Serebro - or if we did, we never knew it was them, in which case, shame on us.

But thanks to an extremely educating video of what not to do while traveling in the car, we were obligated to share this new music clip of Elena Temnikova, Olga Seryabkina and Anastasia Karpova – or at least that's the name of the singers listed on the all-knowing Wikipedia.

Video: One Lucky Son of a Gun…

It's hard to realize that a single moment, just a split second in time, can change or even worse, terminate your life. One of these rare moments almost occurred to the passengers of a car in Russia that was equipped with a dashboard-mounted camera that caught the entire act on film.

While driving on a two-lane highway that was gradually merging into one lane, a large rig on the left hand side of the road and a passenger car on the right hand side, were caught in a life-threatening situation.

Watch a Reckless but Extremely Lucky Driver Pass through Pedestrians

In a harum-scarum moment that was caught on tape through the dashboard-mounted camera of a following vehicle, a thoughtless driver in a silver-colored sedan passes through two pedestrians that were crossing the road without even trying to stop (that is, if he was actually paying any attention to the road). Talk about threading a needle…

Follow the break to watch the short video clip for yourself.

Russian Yo-Concept wants to Rock the Frankfurt Motor Show

One of the lesser known automakers from Russia, Yo-Auto, will participate at this month’s Frankfurt Motor Show with a new study, the (not so imaginatively named) Yo-Concept.

Vilner Poshes Up Classic Land Rover Defenders for "Russian Oligarch"

Land Rover's timeless Defender is a rugged, durable and extremely capable off roader, and as such, it falls behind when it comes to luxury. But where there's a will (and plenty of cash to go around…) there's a way.

Vilner, which is a Bulgarian design studio, said it was approached by a "Russian oligarch" (a.k.a. a business magnate) who wanted to turn the wick up on a short- and long-wheelbase Land Rover Defender by customizing their interiors.

Caught on Video: Nissan GT-R Crashing into Parked Cars in Moscow

A crazy car crash that took place in Moscow, Russia, on July 6, 2011, was caught on film by a pair of security cameras. The person responsible for the catastrophic scene you see in these aftermath photos that were shot on location is the driver of a black Nissan GT-R.

From what we can tell, the GT-R driver was either street racing with another car or simply trying out the full potential of his high-performance sports coupe on the streets of Moscow. Whatever the case, he failed to steer left after passing a black vehicle from the right and ended up crashing into three parked vehicles.

The force of the impact was so severe that the parked cars were literally thrown into the air as if they toys. Watch the security cam tapes of the accident in the videos after the break.

Сбоить: Russian President Medvedev’s Mega Driving Gaffe Caught on Video

The man behind the “Forward Russia!” movement, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, took his campaign motto a smidgen too seriously when he almost...forwarded a Mercedes M-Class he was driving into a crowd of people cheerfully waiting for him on the side of the road.

While we can’t be 100 percent sure, from the video it looks like Medvedev either forgot to put the SUV’s handbrake on or even worse, didn’t shift out of drive and into park before jumping out of the vehicle to meet his voters.

Fortunately, Medvedev’s security was alert and managed to stop the Mercedes before it hit the crowd. The incident allegedly occurred in the city of Kazan on Monday. The video, which you can watch after the break, went viral and has already more than 200,000 views on Youtube in less than 24 hours.

Cold-War Leftovers still Very Popular in Russia

It’s been over two decades since the collapse of communism in the former USSR and the introduction of capitalism to what is now Russia. However, a relic from the past, a car that was introduced back in 1982 (actually even older if you count the vehicle upon which it was based on), is still quite popular with the locals.

The car we ‘re talking about is the Lada 2107 which along with the 2104 and the 2105 versions are Russia’s second best-selling cars, only behind Lada’s much newer Kalina hatchback.

Sacha Baron Cohen gets Glitzy Gold Dartz for the Needs of his New Movie The Dictator

After becoming worldwide known for his portrayal of the fictional character Borat from the Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, and the lesser successful flamboyantly gay Austrian fashion show presenter, Brüno, English comedian Sacha Baron Cohen is returning to the big screen with a new movie called The Dictator.

And what may that have to do with a car site, we hear you ask? Well, for one, we’re going to see him facing off three Lamborghinis with his camel on the streets of New York, but most importantly, we learned that the dictator he portrays will ride in an “all-gold Dartz” armored truck.

For those of you with a weak memory, the Russian maker of the Dartz Prombron had made headlines about a year ago when it introduced a special version of the armored truck with its interior slathered in…whale-penis leather.

Japanese carmaker Nissan Motor Co. revealed on Monday its new midterm business plan dubbed “Power 88”, with which it aims to boost both its global market share and profit margin to 8 percent within six years – hence the “88” reference in the name. Last year, Nissan, which is 44.3 percent owned by French partner Renault, had a 5.8 percent global market share.

The new plan calls for the introduction of 52 new cars for fiscal years 2011 to 2016, or about one new vehicle every six weeks.

Save of the Day: Russian Driver goes to Hell and Back

If there was ever a lucky driver, it’s the Russian owner of this compact-sized silver sedan, which may or may not be a Lada. The protagonist of the video clip shot from an in-car camera went to hell and back again, when he foolishly attempted to overtake a vehicle without taking into consideration the situation ahead of him.
