First Spy Shots of 2013 BMW 3-Series Coupe or New 4-Series

Now that didn't take long, did it? No sooner than BMW revealed the sixth-generation of its 3-Series saloon and the first camouflaged prototypes of the coupe model have hit the streets of Germany to begin their final stages of testing.

For those of you confused with our title, unconfirmed reports citing insider sources claim that BMW is contemplating the use of odd numbers for its family models such as sedans and station wagons and even numbers for its sportier vehicles like the X6 and the two door version of the 3-Series, which may be named 4-Series.

BMW had toyed around with the idea in the past but it never came to fruition. We still don't know for sure if the next 3-Series Coupe will be renamed or not.

Here are some fresh photos of the upcoming, next generation BMW M3 sports sedan wearing some swirly patches of camouflage while testing on the infamous "Green Hell".

Since the last time we posted scoop pictures of the new M3, BMW presented the regular versions of its new 3 sedan, codenamed F30, with the M Sport Package models giving us a taste of what to expect from the golden-boy of the series.

2014 BMW M3 Sedan F30 and 3-Series Coupe Speculatively Rendered

Given the close proximity in the designs of BMW's outgoing E90 and the newly revealed F30 3-Series saloons, it's not hard to imagine what the rest of the range will look like.

The crew over from PS-Garage sent us these speculative renderings of the next-generation M3 sedan that we recently scooped testing in Germany and the upcoming coupe model.

SPY SHOTS: 2012 BMW M6 Cabriolet Continues Testing

We were hoping to see the new BMW M6 at last month's Frankfurt Motor Show, but apparently, the Bavarian company has other plans for the presentation of its flagship two-door model that will be offered in both coupe and convertible derivatives.

Following recent pictures of the 2012 M6 Coupe, our spy shooters came up close and personal with a right-hand drive cabriolet model while testing in Europe.

SPY SHOTS: New BMW ActiveHybrid 3 Based on the F30 3-Series

We've brought you plenty of news on BMW's upcoming iteration of its bread-and-butter 3-Series, but our spies have just snagged what they believe to be an early prototype of the hybrid version that will join the recently announced ActiveHybrid 5 and the already available ActiveHybrid X6 and 7.

While the prototype model captured on the 'Ring looks pretty much stock, our man with the long lens tells us that it features the mandatory hybrid stickers to warn emergency crews about the car's electric operating system in the event of an accident.

The Bavarian automaker confirmed the availability of "hybrid versions of the next 3-Series" sedan codenamed F30 during a press conference in late 2010.

SPIED: BMW Preparing Subtle Updates for X6 Crossover

The BMW X6 has entered its fourth year of production, which means the Bavarian company will proceed to at least some changes to keep its successful crossover model fresh and ensure that it remains on the priority list of its desired target market.

Our man with the long lens caught up with a very early and hardly disguised prototype of the X6 in Germany. The only parts of the car covered, were the headlamps and the tail lamps, both of which will likely be revised to match the rest of the BMW line-up like the new 1-Series.

New BMW M3 Sedan Video Scooped: Are these the Sounds of a Turbocharged Six?

By now, you have probably heard that the upcoming 2014 BMW M3 in both four- and two-door formats will do away with the current model's atmospheric 4.0-liter V8 and gain a turbocharged six-cylinder engine.

Most seem to agree that the most likely candidate is an M Division modified version of one of BMW's 3.0-liter straight-six units with either two or three turbos.

However, there are some rumors circulating around the net that BMW is developing a new force-fed V6 engine for its next M3 models. The speculation is based on a recent design filling for a twin-turbocharged V6 made by the Bavarian company at the German patent office. BMW has not commented on the matter.

SCOOP: All-New 2014 BMW M3 Sedan Caught and it's Packing a Twin-Turbocharged Straight-Six

Our spy photographers have finally spotted the brand-new BMW M3 saloon more than a year before its introduction sometime in the first half of 2013. Those that are more interested in the two-door model will most likely have to wait, as the M3 Coupe is currently planned to follow later on.

There's still some debate whether BMW will shuffle up its nameplates, as some sources suggest that the next 1-Series coupe will be renamed to the 2-Series, and the 3-Series Coupe into the 4-Series, meaning the M3 Coupe could become known as the M4. However, none of this has been officially confirmed yet.

SCOOP: BMW Continues Development of New 2012 M6 Coupe

We were expecting to see the new M6 making its global premiere at this week's Frankfurt Motor Show, but apparently BMW has other plans set aside. Regardless of where the new M6's debut takes place, we should see the high-performance model in dealership by the summer of 2012.

The third iteration of the M6 in both Coupe and Convertible flavors will borrow the inner works of the latest M5 sports saloon, which means power will come from a 4.4-liter eight-cylinder engine supplemented by a pair of turbochargers and direct-injection technology.

SCOOP: 2012 BMW M6 Spied in Convertible Trim

The engineering teams over at the BMW Group have their hands full these days as they rush to complete testing of a number of future vehicles.

These include but are not limited to, MINI’s Roadster and BMW’s i3 hatch, i8 hybrid sports car, M6 Coupe, the next generation 3-Series sedan and GT liftback, the 7-Series facelift, the four-door 6-Series GT which we showed you earlier today, and case in point, the convertible version of the M6.

As with the 2012 M6 Coupe, BMW is slowly stripping away the disguise from the rag-top model which will feature the same M Division-tuned drivetrain found in the latest M5 sports sedan.

New BMW 6-Series Four-Door GT Spied in Black

Here are some fresh spy shots of BMW’s new Mercedes CLS and Audi A7 Sportback adversary, the four-door version of the latest 6-Series, which was spotted testing in Europe.

The third iteration of the 6-Series after the two-door Coupe and Convertible models will most likely be called the 6-Series GT or the 6-Series Gran Coupé and will reach showrooms in the first half of 2012. BMW believes the four door model will overshadow the rest of the range and predicts that it will account for around half of all 6-Series sales.

SPIED: 2012 BMW 3-Series Sedan Starts Taking Shape

The new, sixth generation of BMW’s 3-Series sedan, codenamed F30 is almost upon us and as a result, we’re seeing more and more prototype models with less camouflage making their appearance on the road or in this case, testing on the Nürburgring circuit in Germany.

Being that the 3-Series has been the backbone of BMW’s success over the years, it doesn’t come to much of a surprise that the F30 remains close to the current model in terms of design.

New BMW 6-Series GT Four-Door Coupe Spied in the Wild

Not too long ago, we brought you official design sketches of the production version of last year’s BMW Gran Coupé Concept. Now, our man with the long lens has captured an actual prototype that is production ready with only a few splashes of BMW’s traditional swirly camouflage covering its sides and rear end.

BMW’s first ever attempt to rival the Mercedes CLS in the so-called four-door coupe segment will most likely carry either the 6-Series GT or 6-Series Gran Coupé moniker.

Whatever the name, the sporty looking sedan model will share its underpinnings with the new 6-Series and of course the latest 5-Series, which forms the basis for BMW’s flagship coupe and convertible models.

U-Spy: New MINI Coupe and BMW 1-Series Hatchback Spotted on the Road

Eagle-eyed Carscoop reader Michael from Germany is always on the lookout for any new cars and prototypes on the road. His latest catch is the freshly revealed MINI Coupe in a blue suit with silver stripes, while he also seized a couple of shots of the new BMW 1-Series hatchback, both of which were spotted in Munich.

The new MINI Coupe was only just unveiled online a couple of days ago, so we assume the car pictured is most likely an early production version used for testing.

2012 BMW M6 Spied Testing, gets New M5’s Twin-Turbo V8

These are some of the clearest spy shots of BMW’s next M-branded model, the M6 Coupe, which will take its place as the flagship version of the new F13 6-Series.

The recent unveiling of the new M5 sports saloon gives us an idea of what to expect in terms of performance as the M6 will be powered by the same twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine.

The force-fed V8 brings an end to a line of naturally aspirated engines for the M6 that started with the iconic straight six of the first generation and continued with the V10 of the outgoing model.

SCOOP: BMW Attempts to Spiff up 5-Series GT with M Sport Package

What do you do to improve the image of a vehicle that looks like the BMW 5-Series Gran Turismo? Well, the painful answer to that question would be to head back to the drawing board. However, given that this is not an option for a model launched less than two years ago, BMW thought of spicing it up with the always welcome M Sports package.

Spied here in Germany, the prototype model of the 5-Series GT with the M Sports treatment gains new, lower front and rear bumpers, deeper side skirts and larger alloy wheels in a different design.

As is the case with all M Sports Packages, we can expect minor tweaks in the interior with a three-spoke steering wheel, sports seats, aluminum pedals and door sills, plus bespoke upholstery and headlining.

SCOOP: Early Prototype of 2013 BMW 7-Series Facelift

With the fifth-generation of the BMW 7-Series limousine codenamed F01 entering its third year in production, it’s time for the Bavarian company to begin readying a mid-life facelift for its flagship model.

Our spies snagged a lightly camouflaged prototype of the 7-Series bearing the ActiveHybrid 7 badges while testing in Germany. Judging by the parts of the car hidden under masking tape, there should be some minor styling changes to the front and rear bumpers as well as to the headlamps and tail light graphics.

Official Patent Designs of BMW’s New Four-Door Sports Coupe

Last April, from the sidelines of the 2010 Beijing Auto Show, BMW displayed a thinly disguised concept model of a sporty-looking sedan model named the Gran Coupé. Now, it looks like that the Bavarian automaker is preparing for the presentation of the final production model as the company has just filed a patent for the designs of its so-called four-door sports coupe.

The images outline the shape and details of the production version that will most likely go on sale in early 2012. By comparing the drawings of the production car with the photos of the concept model, we see that BMW has made some subtle styling changes to the front with the redesigned bumper featuring a center grille on the lower part as well as to the rear, which sports re-positioned and re-sized reflectors and different tail pipes.

New Scoop Photos Shed More Light on 2012 BMW 3-Series Sedan

With the new 1-Series out in the open, it is time for us now to take a look at the next car in line for replacement in BMW’s range, the 3-Series sedan with these freshly shot spy photos. As we’re nearing closer to the launch, BMW continues to peel away the disguise with the latest F30 prototype having shed not only plenty of swirly decals but also the fake front and rear end additions giving us a better look of the car’s styling.

BMW hasn’t really messed around with the design of the 3-Series since the introduction of the E36 in 1990, and the new F30 isn’t an exception to the rule. The styling of the F30 is a clear evolution of the current E90 3-Series borrowing certain elements from the 5-Series such as the stronger belt-line combined with a lower and more aggressive front end with larger double kidneys. Previous spy shots reveal that BMW will follow a similar formula with the 3-Series’ interior.

Car Spotting: New BMW 6-Series Coupe

Carscoop reader Florian G. from Germany emailed us these photos of a 2012 BMW 6-Series Coupe that he spotted parked on a road in Munich. While not a scoop in the traditional sense given the introduction of the new BMW 6-Series Coupe at last month’s Shanghai Auto Show in China, it is an interesting find nonetheless.

The only thing we’re not sure of is what the ‘iCenter’ sticker below the vents of the front fenders means (that is, if it means anything). For the record, we’ve encountered the same logo on a few recent BMW prototypes. Follow the break for more pictures.
