New Nissan Juke-R Video Reveals that the 3.8-Liter V6 Delivers 480-horses

Nissan is sure taking its time to reveal all the juicy details surrounding its wacky Juke-R project.

Nissan to Show New Yorkers NV200 Taxi of Tomorrow in November

Back in May this year, Michael R. Bloomberg announced that the NYC Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) selected the Nissan NV200 minivan as the exclusive cab of New York City for the next 10 years, beginning in late 2013.

Now, the public as well as taxi owners will be able to see and feel the Nissan NV200 Taxi in person almost a year before it enters service, at the Nissan Taxi of Tomorrow Design Expo, which takes place from November 1 to 5 on the pedestrian plaza across from the Flatiron building at Broadway and Fifth Avenue.

Nissan Publishes New Video on Juke GT-R Project

Slowly, but steadily, Nissan is releasing more information and visual material on its crazy Juke-R design project that bonds together the body of the small crossover with the mechanical hardware of the GT-R sports car.

The second consecutive video tells us about the key technologies that are being transferred from the GT-R to the Juke including the electronics, the engine and the drivetrain.

Time-Waster of the Day: Nissan Europe Launches New 3D Juke Site

The Juke has seen its fair share of publicity, mostly due to its unusual shape and the fact that it is Nissan’s first entry in the small crossover segment. The most recent stunt is the announcement on the development of the Juke-R with modified GT-R underpinnings.

Now Nissan has moved on to another fantasy realm: not the “what if” 530HP Juke prototype, but the virtual one. Its European division has launched Stage JUK3D, an online module that promises to give its users “an incredibly immersive experience of discovering and driving” the carmaker’s small crossover.

Nissan Juke-R: Insane Super Crossover with 530HP GT-R Powertrain! [Video]

If you thought that the Nissan Juke's design was pushing the envelope a wee bit too far, wait until you see what the Japanese carmaker's engineers are readying. Meet the Nissan Juke-R, one of the craziest ideas we have heard in a long, long while. And yes, the 'R' in the name is what you think it is: the heart and soul of the…Godzilla!

A team over at Nissan Europe came up with the bright idea of fitting the Juke small crossover with the engine and drivetrain of the latest GT-R. The street legal prototype is currently being developed by Nissan and built by motorsports outfit RML with input from Nissan Technology Centre for Europe (NTC-E).

Tuned Nissan GT-R Embarrasses Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 on the Drag Strip

As they say, more equals less, or to put it into context, the more horsepower a car has, the less time it will need to cover a defined distance.

And while the new Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 with its 6.5-liter V12 engine pushing out a hefty 700-horses for a factory 0 to 100km/h (62mph) sprint time of 2.9 seconds is by no means a slouch, 700HP is significantly less than around 1000HP.

That was the case with the R35 that went up against the white Aventador in the drag strip race you're about to watch after the break. According to the YouTube poster, this wasn't your run-of-the-mill Nissan GT-R but a heavily tuned R35 packing close to 1,000-horses under its hood.

Nissan GT-R Smacks Ferrari 458 on the Highway, But Fails Miserably on a Twisty Road

The Nissan GT-R is something like a poor-man's supercar – and there is nothing wrong with that in our book. It has beaten/embarrassed vehicles costing several times as much on more occasions that we can care to remember.

However, sometimes we tend to forget that being fast is as much about the car as it is about the driver. Case in point, a friendly road race between an SP Engineering-prepped Nissan GT-R and a Ferrari 458 Italia.

Video: Man Drives Nissan In and Out of Chinese Hospital

A security camera at a hospital in Jinzhou city of Northeast China's Liaoning province captured this amazing footage of a man driving a Nissan sedan (or so that's the kind of car being reported) into the lobby and trying to do something that resembles donuts.

After a while, the man smashed his way out of the entrance and drove off only to return and give it another try. Fortunately for the staff and patients, he didn't manage to enter the hospital the second time and was quickly apprehended.

Ad Watch: Nissan's Redonkulous Frontier TV Spot

Most commercials should be taken with a pinch of salt, but sometimes advertisers outdo themselves in silliness. In Nissan's case, the Japanese automaker wanted to convey the message that the Frontier is a "mid-size truck that acts like a full size, giving the driver the feeling they can tackle any obstacle".

And how did Nissan's advertising agency deliver the message? With a Nissan Frontier intervening and saving the day when a passenger airplane's front landing gear jams…

Of course, there's the usual but barely noticeable "Fictionalization. Do not attempt" footnote on the right hand corner. You can watch the ad in the video after the break.

Nissan GT-R Takes on the Bugatti Veyron and the Porsche 911 Turbo S in Straight Line Duel

Not to leave Motor Trend's recent speed challenge unanswered, rivaling car magazine Road and Track brought the 2012 Nissan GT-R on the race track to see if it qualifies to enter the so-called "Two Second Club" which refers to vehicles that are able to break the 0-60mph (96km/h) sprint in under 3 seconds.

As pointed out by the magazine, few standard production cars can manage this feat - even the Corvette ZR1 fails to do so with a sprint time of 3.5 seconds, while the exotic Ferrari 458 Italia comes close, but does not make the cut at 3.0 seconds flat.

The Flying Dutchman: Nissan GT-R Lands into a Water Ditch

There's something about sports cars and…water sports this week. Following the story on the Ferrari Enzo that took a quick dip into the Atlantic Ocean a couple of days ago, we now have a Nissan GT-R that was flogged into a water ditch in Amsterdam, Holland.

According to press reports from The Netherlands, the driver of the Nissan GT-R was returning from a close-by race track event when he lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons, sending it straight into the swamp-like ditch.

A messy situation indeed, but fortunately, nobody was injured. Hop over the break to wash...err..watch the aftermath in the two video clips.

The Real Godzilla: AMS Performance’s 1,309WHP Nissan GT-R Completes ¼ Mile in 9.05 Sec! [Video]

We’ve seen some insanely modified Nissan GT-R R35s, but Chicago-based tuning house AMS Performance, has really lifted the bar with its newest creation, the ALPHA 12.

The heavily tuned Nissan GT-R ALPHA 12, which is still in the development and testing phase, was placed on a dyno where it produced an incredible 1,309-horsepower and 994 lb-ft (1,384Nm) of peak torque at all four wheels!

Top Gear has a Blast Driving the 2012 Nissan GT-R

One of the highlights in the fourth episode of Top Gear’s 17th season that aired in Britain this past weekend was the test of the 530HP and 612 Nm (451 lb/ft) 2012 Nissan GT-R. Jeremy Clarkson clearly had a blast driving the updated version of Nissan’s twin-turbocharged, four-wheel drive supercar and, unusually for him, almost ran out of expletives. Read more »

Video: Nissan LEAF Climbs the Pikes Peak

Last month, Nobuhiro “Monster” Tajima broke his own record at the Pikes Peak Hill Climb with a sub 10 minutes time in a 910-horsepower modified Suzuki SX4 racecar.

Now, Nissan’s first all-electric car, the LEAF, has tackled the 156 turns of the “Race to the Clouds”. Naturally, “Monster” Tajima can rest assured that his record remains safe.

That’s not to say that the LEAF driven by Chad Hord didn’t record a respectable time. After all, 14 minutes and 33 seconds with an average speed of 51.2 mph (82.4 km/h) is not to be laughed at for an EV that used just 46% of its charge to cover the demanding 12.42 miles (20 km) hill climb.

Watch the LEAF climb the Pikes Peak after the jump.

Caught on Video: Nissan GT-R Crashing into Parked Cars in Moscow

A crazy car crash that took place in Moscow, Russia, on July 6, 2011, was caught on film by a pair of security cameras. The person responsible for the catastrophic scene you see in these aftermath photos that were shot on location is the driver of a black Nissan GT-R.

From what we can tell, the GT-R driver was either street racing with another car or simply trying out the full potential of his high-performance sports coupe on the streets of Moscow. Whatever the case, he failed to steer left after passing a black vehicle from the right and ended up crashing into three parked vehicles.

The force of the impact was so severe that the parked cars were literally thrown into the air as if they toys. Watch the security cam tapes of the accident in the videos after the break.

Shhh….Nissan’s Radical Leaf Nismo RC Coupe Racecar Filmed on the Track

If there is one thing we don’t like about electric sports cars (we emphasize ‘sports’) in general, it is the lack of engine sounds, you know, the banging thunder of a brawny V8 or the symphony of a finely tuned straight six. Sure EVs may be just as fast as any gasoline-powered model but when it comes to aural pleasure, you might as well be listening to your electric shaver…

Take a look at the following video of the Nissan Leaf Nismo RC racer, which was filmed during a test session, after the break and you’ll see what we mean. And if you disagree, feel free to voice your opinion in the comments section.

Top Gear vs. Electric Cars Part Two: Nissan Leaf Runs of out Electric Juice…

Lately, it seems that pushing an out-of-juice electric car is quickly becoming a trademark of Britain’s popular Top Gear TV series. After the Tesla Motors row, it seems another EV will be featured in the show while being pushed. This time it's the Nissan Leaf, whose batteries ran dry while being driven by Jeremy Clarkson.

Fortunately, one of the many witnesses of the event caught Clarkson and James May trying to find an outlet to plug for the Leaf on camera. The two TV hosts were filming a test drive with the Nissan Leaf and the Peugeot iOn for the next episode of the show. After looking for outlets in the park, the crew eventually plugged the Leaf in at the UK's University of Lincoln.
