Jaguar’s Ian Callum Confirms Hot R Edition of Upcoming XF Sport Break

We already knew that Jaguar was preparing an estate (or, as they prefer to call it, Sport Break) version of the XF. What we were not so sure about was whether the XF Sport Break would get a range-topping R version like its sedan sibling.

Up until now, that is, because Ian Callum, Jag’s chief designer, recently told the Dutch publication Autovisie that the company will indeed present and XFR variant of the estate. And it will of course be powered by the same 510-hp turbocharged V8 of the sedan, giving rivals such as Audi’s RS6 something to worry about.

New Jaguar XF 2.2 Diesel Goes from Birmingham to Munich on One Tank of Fuel

Jaguar is touting it’s new diesel-powered XF 2.2D saloon as the most fuel-efficient model in its history and to back its claims, the company set out to complete a journey from its factory at Castle Bromwich in Birmingham, UK, to Munich, Germany, on a single tank of fuel.

The British company manages to achieve its goal, with the four-cylinder XF covering a distance of 816 miles or 1,312 kilometers on 64 liters of diesel fuel, which gives an average fuel economy of 57mpg UK, equal to 4.9 lt/100km and 47.5 mpg US.

2012 Jaguar XF Facelift Makes World Premiere at New York Auto Show

The new model year brings a refresh for Jaguar’s XF and XFR sedans, which were both revealed in a world premiere today at the New York Auto Show. The British firm’s BMW 5-Series rival receives restyled front and rear bodywork, along with some subtle changes inside and for certain markets including Europe, the introduction of a new four-cylinder turbo diesel engine.

On the outside, Jaguar tried to bring the XF into line with the new XJ, though some may also see common themes with the original C-XF Concept, especially up front with the new and sleeker headlamp designs that incorporate LED daytime running lights arranged in a distinctive Jaguar ‘J-Blade’ signature.

The 2012 XF benefits from revisions to the grille, hood, and front fenders, which incorporate new triangular side vents, while Jaguar also added larger tail lamps with full-LEDs for stop, tail light and turn signal functions. In addition, the trunk lid trim has been redesigned. The XFR’s newly styled bumpers and alloy wheels complete the exterior makeover.

Jaguar Confirms Development of New Entry-Level Sedan and All-Wheel Drive XJ

Jaguar has admitted that it is currently working on a new sedan that will be the entry-level model of the range. Smaller than the XF, the new model is expected to have a starting price of around £28,000 (€31,850/$45,685). According to Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar's global brand director, the sub-£30,000 premium car market is four times larger than that of sedans priced above £30,000 (€34,120), so developing a cheaper, smaller Jaguar makes a solid business case.

2012 Jaguar XF Facelift with New 2.2-Liter Turbo Diesel to Debut in New York Auto Show

Undeniably, the XF is one of the most important models in Jaguar’s recent history, as it turned a new design page for the British carmaker at a time the company changed ownership, from Ford to India’s Tata Motors. Now, three years after its market launch in 2008 following a debut at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show, Jaguar is preparing a facelift version of the XF that will receive its world premiere at next month’s New York Auto Show.

The facelift model will receive a makeover that includes a new front fascia with new lights, a redesigned front grille and reshaped bumper, which oddly enough, bring it closer to the original C-XF Concept that previewed the car. The XF will also benefit from tweaks to the interior and the overall quality, the introduction of new tech systems and an upgraded suspension for improved ride and handling.

Perhaps the biggest news for buyers across the pond is the introduction of a new 2.2-liter four-cylinder turbo diesel engine. The oil-burner is a development of the Ford unit found in the Land Rover Freelander and the European-market Ford Mondeo, however, given that the XF is rear wheel drive, it sits in a north-south configuration so Jaguar had to make several changes to the engine.

Jaguar Recalling 3,754 XFs for Minor Electric Glitch

There are recalls where there have been serious injuries or even deaths and recalls which simply involve faulty components that cause no harm. Jaguar's recall falls into the second category as the reason why the Indian-owned British automaker is calling in 3,754 MY2009 XFs in the U.S. for inspection is for instrument cluster speaker function problems. In particular, the speaker wires may fracture meaning that a series of audible notifications will not be heard by the driver. These include the seat belt warning, lights 'on' warning, driver's door open with key in ignition, driver intervene (adaptive cruise control vehicles only) and seat memory. For more info owners may contact Jaguar directly at 1-800-452-4827.

Jaguar Recalling 7,918 XF vehicles due to Safety-Belt Issue

Today, Jaguar announced that it is recalling more than 7,900 MY2009 XF sedans in the United States for a defect in the rear safety belt assembly. Although Jaguar says there have been no accidents or injuries reported due to the problem, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration noted that in the event of a crash, a seat occupant may not be properly restrained thus increasing the risk of personal injury. Jaguar’s dealers will inspect the rear safety belt assembly and make the necessary repairs. Concerned owners may contact jaguar at 1-800-452-4827

Video: Jaguar XF-R Spied in Death Valley

Jaguar’s forthcoming XF-R that is aimed squarely at the BMW M5, Audi RS6 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG has been caught on film by AMS undergoing hot-weather testing in the infamous Death Valley in the southwestern United States. Expected to be introduced in early 2009, the top-of-the-line XF will boast a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine with direct injection delivering at least 500 horsepower that should roecket the Xf-R from zero to 100 km/h (62mph) in under five seconds. -Follow the jump for the video

Arden’s Jaguar XF Based AJ 21 with up to 550 HP

Arden AJ21 Jaguar XFArden has finally released real life images and mechanical details on its latest creation, the Jaguar XF based AJ 21. The top of the line version of the AJ 21 gets a supercharged V8 engine stroked out from 4.2-liters to 4.5-liters delivering an output of about 550 HP, which should be more than enough to take the “wildcat” into M5 territory.

Although that’s the Jag to go for, the German tuning firm also offers a 4.5-liter version for both the naturally aspirated and supercharged 4.2-liter V8 engines, increasing output by 80 HP to 380 HPand 500 HP respectively. In the case of the 2.7-liter V6 diesel engine, Arden’s tuning kit bumps power from the standard 207 HP to 250 HP. Other modifications include a specially developed custom sport suspension from Arden combined with light weight 21-inch alloy wheels. -Continued

The Jaguar XF’s exterior has received an extensive treatment that includes a full bodykit with a new front bumper with larger air vents and integrated LED daylights, new side sills that incorporate functional air inlets for better cooling of the rear brakes, a relatively discreet rear lid spoiler and a rear diffuser. Look a bit closer at the front end and you may notice the jaguar ornament on the hood along with the revised the radiator grille which is now more oval-shaped.

Jaguar C-XF – Deja vu? You’re right!

Hide and seek is over for Jag’s brand new cat as official pics have spilled all over the net the past few hours after a huge dispute between Ford, Print and Web based media (If you haven’t read about it, either click here or scroll down to the next post to see what happened exactly).

Back to Jag’s concept, from the first moment I laid my eyes on it, it was like having a déjà vu but I couldn’t quite figure which car it reminded me of. Ok, I saw a little XK in the rear end but that wasn’t it. Then I had a flashback! That’s it, it reminds me of Ford’s Iosis Concept that previewed the 2007 Mondeo Sedan! Check it out for yourselves and leave a comment if you agree with me or not.

As for the typical info, the C-XF is equipped with a 400 Hp 4.2 supercharged V8 and it previews the S-TYPE successor, dubbed XF that’ll make its public debut at the Frankfurt Show in October –sales start early 2008. In addition, according to officials, C-XF’s design will affect all future Jag models. Pics via: The whole damn net…

Embargo, disembarked – Cat’s out of the bag

Yesterday, thanks to one or maybe more subscribers of Car & Driver who scanned a few images of the Jaguar C-XF & Lincoln MKR Concepts from the February 2007 issue of the magazine, we got the chance to see the first images of the Detroit concepts.

So what? Well, the thing is that while there was an embargo till January 1st, C&D’s February 2007 issue hit the “milkbars” on the 22nd of December –as Windingroad’s pic proves. That started a war between Ford Group & web sites. The latter got pissed and started hosting the official pics. FoMoCo on its part let the grey suite dogs out sniffing out sites that hosted the pics demanding they respect the embargo (…).

Yhea right. Ford, my dear friends, broke its own embargo by giving the pics to C&R prior to their official release date. Am I not right? Being a journalist myself who has the kinky hobby of owning a blog, I know that it’s a common practice for several manufactures to treat several big publications –web or print based, with exclusive pictures or drives. How fair is that?

Well, come to think of it, to tell you the truth, If I was Ford I’d be rubbing my hands with satisfaction with all that publicity that Jag & Lincoln are receiving the past 24 hours… Pic via: WindingRoad

Jaguar’s Detroit C-XF concept leaks on the web

As if it wouldn’t… Thanks to a Car & Driver subscriber how uploaded a couple of scanned pics from the 2007 February issue of the magazine we have the first full-blown images of Jag’s Detroit Show, C-XF concept that’ll base next year's S-TYPE successor.

From what we make from the article, the C-XF uses the S-TYPE R’s supercharged 4.2 V8 that pumps out 400 Hp. While overall I like the shape of the C-XF, I must note that the front part looks a bit out of place reminding me of a pimped up version of the latest Lancer. Lets hope that the production version (dubbed XF) which will make its debut in October at the Frankfurt Show will feature a more sensuously styled front end.

Jaguar to debut 4-door concept in Detroit – could it be the XF?

Our pals over at Autoblog.com have posted this teaser-pic of a Jaguar concept that as they report, will make its public debut at the Detroit Auto Show in January. Although there’s no official info on the concept, since Jaguar announced a few days ago that it’ll debut its S-TYPE successor (to be named XF) next autumn, its only logical that we assume it to be a close-to-production prototype of the XF. We'll get back on this one as soon as we get our hands on the press release.Via: Autoblog.com

Jaguar’s 2008 S-Type successor baptized officially XF

Out goes the S-Type nameplate as Jaguar announced that its new mid-size sports saloon which will make its public debut next autumn will bear the name XF. Designed and developed at Jaguar’s Product Development Centre at Whitley in Coventry, UK, the new Jaguar XF will be built at Jaguar’s Advanced Manufacturing Centre at Castle Bromwich in Birmingham, UK. Despite the fact that the Brits avoided giving us specific details, word has it that the XF will be heavily based on the R-D6 concept –without the suicide doors though. Via: Autoblog.com

“The Jaguar XF is a new sports saloon that will challenge people to think again about Jaguar as daring and different,” commented Bibiana Boerio, Managing Director of Jaguar Cars. “Our new XK sports car has been very well-received and is enjoying great success. We are now moving on to the next stage of Jaguar’s exciting new design era – and if you like the new XK, just wait until you see the new Jaguar XF!”
