Infiniti Confirms Limited Production Run of FX Sebastian Vettel Edition


With Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel having clinched the second consecutive drivers' championship crown after the results of the Japanese Grand Prix on Sunday, it was only a matter time before Infiniti would confirm what we already suspected after the debut of the FX concept in Frankfurt: the crossover that bears his name will enter a limited run production.

The announcement was made by Nissan Executive Vice President Andy Palmer at an interview for the company's corporate blog.

Live Photos and Video of the Infiniti FX Sebastian Vettel Edition


Infiniti is relying on its partnership with Red Bull Racing and the blessings of reigning Formula One World Champion Sebastian Vettel to promote a sportier image for the brand

At this week's 64 International Auto Show in Frankfurt, the Japanese automaker put the spotlight on a one-off Infiniti FX50 designed in conjunction with Vettel. The special crossover features a host of aerodynamic, styling and mechanical improvements, all designed with Vettel's input.

IAA 2011: Sebastian Vettel's 420HP, 300km/h One-Off Infiniti FX50 Special


After many teasers but only six months since the idea surfaced during a conversation between Infiniti’s Chief Creative Officer, Shiro Nakamura, and Red Bull racing driver Sebastian Vettel, the Japanese firm's one-off FX50 Performance Concept dedicated to the reigning Formula One World Champion has been fully revealed.

Sebastian Vettel, who already owns an FX as Infiniti's Global Brand Ambassador [sic...], cooperated with the company's engineers to create the concept model that sports several changes over the standard production version both mechanically and cosmetically.

Infiniti Shows More of its Frankfurt-Bound FX50 Sebastian Vettel Concept



We are now less than two-weeks away from the opening of this year's edition of the Frankfurt Motor Show and Infiniti decided to provide us with a better look of its high-performance FX50 study designed by, and built for, Formula One World Champion Sebastian Vettel.

The new pictures show that along with the revamped front end that sports a carbon fiber apron shaped like an F1 car's front wing, the carbon fiber mirrors and side sills, the one-off FX50 also sports a new rear bumper design with a diffuser made out of –you guessed it- carbon fiber.

Infiniti to Add Three New Front-Wheel-Drive Models to its Line-Up Over the Next Few Years



Top marks to those of you who remember the last front-wheel-drive Infiniti. If you don’t, you’re not going senile: it was the 2000 I35, the Infiniti version of the Nissan Maxima sedan that lasted until 2004.

Now, the luxury division of Nissan is bringing back FWD, starting with the all-new JX crossover that will be available in front- and four-wheel-drive configurations from April 2012.

Infiniti's Sebastian Vettel-Inspired FX50 Performance Concept Breaks Cover



When the doors open to the 64th IAA International Motor Show on September 13, Infiniti will premiere a new concept study that takes the firm's partnership with F1 racing team Red Bull to the next level.

The Infiniti FX50 Performance Concept was inspired by reigning Formula One World Champion and Red Bull driver, Sebastian Vettel. The 24-year old German, who is Infiniti's first ever Global Brand Ambassador, is said to have helped in the design of the FX50 study.

First Look at the New Infiniti JX 7-Seat Crossover


Infiniti’s slow striptease of its upcoming JX crossover continues today with the release of the first real-life photograph of the seven-passenger model, which will receive its public outing in concept form at the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on August 18, 2011.

The Japanese automaker had previously shown a teaser sketch of the luxury crossover that will debut in production trim at the Los Angeles Auto Show this November and go on sale as the 2013 Infiniti JX in the Spring of 2012. It will be built at Nissan’s assembly plant in Smyrna, Tennessee.

Infiniti Teases New JX 7-Seater Premium Crossover, will go on Sale in 2012


Infiniti is planning to enter new territories by introducing an all-new 7-seater luxury crossover designated the JX. Teased here in a blurry sketch, the mid-size model will be shown in concept form at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance this August, and in production guise at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show in November, before going on sale in the U.S. in spring 2012 as a 2013 model.

“The all-new Infiniti JX crossover will allow us to continue to expand the Infiniti brand’s presence in the Americas,” said Carlos Tavares, chairman, Nissan Americas.

Nissan to Show New Versa and a Motorsports Concept in New York, Infiniti to Announce New Addition to Range


One by one, automakers are revealing their plans for the upcoming 2011 New York International Auto Show. This time we have news from Nissan and its luxury division Infiniti. Starting with Nissan, the Japanese firm will debut a “new compact sedan” and a “new, zero emission motorsports concept”. While we have don’t have any information yet on the concept study, from what we know, the compact sedan will be the next generation of the Versa that was teased in an official sketch back in late 2010.

Geneva 2011: Etherea Concept Hints at Infiniti's BMW 1-Series and Audi A3 Rival


No question, the most significant presence at Infiniti's Geneva Motor Show booth is the brand-new Etherea concept study that provides a first glimpse at an upcoming entry-level model will allow the Japanese brand to compete with the Audi A3 and BMW 1-Series. A production version inspired by the Etherea is expected to hit the market by 2014.

The Etherea concept study was designed in Japan under the direction of Shiro Nakamura who incorporated the design language of the 2009 Essence sports car concept into a five-door body style. According to Infiniti, the Etherea is "part elegant coupé, part spacious sedan, part practical hatchback and even part tall crossover".

Infiniti Etherea Hybrid Concept Previews New Compact Hatchback


This five-door hatchback model is the Infiniti Etherea concept, and it's set to be unveiled at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show in March. The Etherea previews the Japanese brand's foray into the compact luxury segment, with the production model scheduled to enter the market within the next two to three years.

Geneva Preshow: Infiniti Outlines New Concept for Entry-Level Model


A pair of black and white sketches outlining the shape of what appears to be a hatchback model and a statement from Infiniti's Vice President, Andy Palmer, in 2010 saying that the brand is exploring the development of a new entry-level vehicle, is all we get about the Japanese luxury brand's new concept car that will debut at the Geneva Motor Show in the beginning of March.

However, we'll remind you during the September 2010 announcement, Mr. Palmer had shown a more revealing teaser rendering of an all-electric model capable of seating up to five passengers, which he said would enter production in 2013.

Infiniti Essence GT Concept becomes a $300 Limited Edition Sculpture with its own Louis Vuitton Case


The well-received Infiniti Essence GT may not have become a reality -at least not yet- but it's getting its own artwork in the form of a collector's edition sculpture, penned by the car's original designer under the supervision of Senior Vice President and Chief Creative Officer Shiro Nakamura. The "Essence Sculpture" is made from solid resin and production will be strictly limited to 300 individually numbered units worldwide.
